Elberta May is a sweet white Muscadine wine with strawberry and woodruff flavors in the German tradition of “Waldmeister Bowl” or “Spring Punch” to celebrate the Rites of Spring. This is a commemorative wine for the German heritage in Baldwin County beginning with the Bartels Winery of the Elberta-Lillian area, established in 1898, by Hermann Bartel. Bartels Winery was moved to Pensacola, FL in 1937 and operated until 1978 by Mr. Ralph Weaver.
In remembrance, a number of oak casks from Bartels Winery have been remodeled as wine displays and are installed in the dining area at McGuire’s Irish Pub in Pensacola.
